Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMDs)

Temporomandibular joint disorders affect your jaw joints and the muscles attached to them. A severe TMD can make it difficult -if not impossible- to chew and even talk. TMDs can also cause jaw pain, headaches, eye pain, ear pain or fullness, clicking or popping in the joint, a limited range of motion and could result in a locked jaw. Dental splints can be used to both provide pain relief and to address the underlying issues. Dr. Phillips holds a Master’s degree and is board certified in orofacial pain treatment and is a leading Houston-based TMD dentist with over 12 years of experience.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a serious sleeping disorder that affects millions of Americans. Sleep apnea occurs when the airway becomes blocked during sleep, interrupting normal breathing and resulting in snoring and gasping for air. Chronic sleep apnea, in addition to being difficult to treat, can have an impact on nearly aspect of your life as well as on that of your loved ones.

If you suffer from mild to moderate sleep apnea or cannot tolerate a CPAP machine for more severe cases of sleep apnea, you may benefit from oral appliance therapy from Dr. Phillips and REstore TMJ & Sleep Therapy. When combined with other treatment methods and mandibular advancement devices, oral appliance therapy can help ensure your airway stays open and your sleep remains uninterrupted for better rest and better health.

Why Our Patients Trust Us

“I dislocated my jaw in a car accident leaving the discs out of place. I couldn't even open my mouth more than an inch after 2 years of "treatment" and then I was introduced to Dr. Prehn. Since being treated by you some 20 years ago I have lived virtually pain free in my TM joints even though on an xray they look incorrect they function perfectly. I'm forever grateful to you for that. It's so awesome to see you effecting positive change for so many people. Keep up the great work!!”
J. Kaye Marshall
"I had been using my mouth guard for 10 years until my parents dog ate it. The new one came in and didn’t quite fit my mouth properly. The staff and doctor worked so hard to make sure it fit well and I wouldn’t have to take new impressions. Everyone is kind, easy going, and hard working. My mouth guard has alleviated all my pain and I can sleep again!!"
Caroline Elizabeth
“I can highly recommend Dr Phillips and her wonderful staff. They made the office visit so pleasant and made me feel like they truly cared about my well being. The service they provide is so specialized and we are so lucky to have them near my neighborhood. TMJ has been my issue for many years and thanks to Dr Prehn and now Dr Phillips and this great staff, it has become a very manageable issue. Again, I would highly recommend them...it can be a life changing solution."
Reba Brantley Strickland
“Every time I come here I am very welcomed. They are always on time and very proficient. April helped me today and she was super nice and helpful with my questions. I’ve been going here for two months now and I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else..”
